people drive to Whangarei via Auckland. It takes 2 hours from Auckland
city (or around 2.5 hours from Auckland Airport) to get to Lupton Lodge. Book

Northern
Gateway Toll Road Information
As
of January 2009 there are 3 possible routes into Northland:

The
new tunnel/motorway road (one-way
toll of $2 for cars and $4 for trucks)

The
free route along Hibiscus Coast
-
State
Highway 16 through Helensville
We
recommend the new toll road to make your journey faster and easier. The
toll is calculated electronically so either pay in advance or within 3
days of using the toll road. For information ways to pay the toll please

here. If you wish to visit Waiwera and/or Orewa beach then please go
via the Hibiscus Coast route.
Directions to Lupton Lodge
From SH1 (from South):
Follow
SH1 through Whangarei, then turn right into Kensington Ave, 1.4 km
past Caltex/Burger King (signposted Tutukaka
Coast and Whangarei
Falls, just before Kensington Sports Centre). Go straight ahead at the
first set of traffic lights, and left at the second set, continuing to follow the signs
to Tutukaka & Whangarei Falls. After a further 2km you will reach a
roundabout, where you turn right, Lupton Lodge is 5.5km after Whangarei
Falls & 2.5km after Huanui Orchards on the main road to Tutukaka. We
are on the left hand side and have a large Blue & White sign - 'Lupton
Lodge'. If you see The Orange Market on your left then
you have gone 200m too far.
From SH1 (from North):
Follow
SH1 towards Whangarei until you see signs (turning to the right) for Kamo,
Tikipunga, Tutukaka and the Whangarei Falls. This turn is about 7km before
you reach Whangarei city centre. Take this turning right. At the first
traffic lights turn left into Station Road. Follow Station road for 4km
until you reach a T junction. Turn left at the T-junction, continuing to
follow the signs to Tutukaka. Lupton Lodge is a further 6km on this road (2.5km after Huanui Orchards).
We are on the
left hand side and have a blue & white sign - 'Lupton Lodge'. If you see The Orange Market on your left then you have gone
200m too far.
From Tutukaka:
Follow
the road towards Whangarei. Lupton Lodge is 15 mins drive
from Tutukaka (13.5km from Ngunguru). We are on the right hand side about
200m after the Orange Market. If you reach Pukepoto Orchards B&B
you have gone about 200m too far.
From Whangarei Airport:
Turn right out of the airport complex. Follow the road to Whangarei City
Centre. (about a 10 minute drive) Turn right at a major set of traffic
lights, after crossing the main bridge
by the Town Basin. Follow that road (Hatea Drive). Turn right at the first set of traffic lights.
Turn right at the first roundabout. Lupton Lodge is 6km after the roundabout & 2.5km after Huanui Orchards on the main road to the Tutukaka
Coast. We
are on the left hand side and have a blue & white sign - 'Lupton
Lodge' . If you see The Orange Market on your left then
you have gone 200m too far.
From
Whangarei Centre (Bank Street):
Follow
Bank Street north (up hill) out of town. At the traffic lights next to New
World go straight ahead (middle lane, taking the right fork). Continue
straight through the second set of lights. Turn right at the first round
about. Lupton Lodge is 6km after the round about & 2.5km after Huanui Orchards on the main road to
the Tutukaka Coast. We
are on the left hand side and have a blue & white sign - 'Lupton
Lodge' . If you see The Orange Market on your left then
you have gone 200m too far.
